High-Precision Current Sensing for Demanding Applications

From Shunts to Sensors

Reliable current measurement is a key prerequisite for efficient and safe electronics. Walter Electronic offers a comprehensive product portfolio ranging from highly accurate current sense resistors and power shunts to advanced current sensors.

The range includes metal foil and metal strip current sense resistors for SMD assembly in package sizes from 0201 to 4527. Depending on the type, extremely low resistance values below 1 milliohm can be achieved — ideal for low-loss and highly accurate measurements. Typical temperature coefficients of ±50 to ±100 ppm ensure high measurement stability.

For higher power applications, the components cover a range from 0.5W to 3W at 70°C. For more demanding requirements, highly precise shunts are available in larger package sizes from 2512 to 5931. The portfolio is further complemented by low-profile MBU series packages, which are particularly suitable for very slim or low-height designs.

In addition to conventional resistor-based solutions, Walter also offers current sensors based on electromagnetic principles such as the Hall effect. These enable contactless and highly reliable current measurement, significantly expanding the range of applications.

Typical application areas include the automotive industry, battery management, and renewable energy systems — where efficiency, precision, and thermal stability are critical.

About Walter Electronic

Suzhou Walter Electronic is an Asian manufacturer specializing in electrical current applications — both protection (fuses) and measurement (sensors). Founded in Taiwan in 1968, the company now operates three production sites in China and one in Japan.

Fully automated, state-of-the-art manufacturing combined with a robust quality management system (ISO9001, IATF16949) forms the basis for high-quality mass production. Manufacturing processes are continuously optimized, and certifications according to European, American, and Chinese standards are standard practice.

Walter’s fuses and current sensors are widely used in automotive, new energy, industrial equipment, automation technology, and battery management applications. Accordingly, the company serves a broad customer base, including leading firms across Asia and the Americas.
